RECRUITING
57. On 1st April, 1965 the strength of Inspectors was 42 below establishment; by 31st March, 1966 it was 60.
58. To fill vacancies caused by the creation of new posts, promo- tions, resignations and other casualties, 52 overseas and 36 local officers were recruited, and 3 members of the Rank and File were promoted to Probationary Inspector. 37 overseas and 35 local Probationary Inspec- tors passed out from the Training School during this period and 33 overseas and 26 local officers were still under training at the end of the year.
59. 4 Women Probationary Inspectors passed out from the Training School during the year and two were still under training at the end of the year.
60. The recruiting standards for Inspectors are shown at Ap- pendix 9.
Constables
61. On 1st April, 1965, the strength of the rank and file was 742 under establishment, but by 31st March, 1966 this was reduced to 80. The recruiting drive commenced in January, 1965 was maintained throughout the year with great success.
62. During the year, 6,713 applicants to join the Force as Constables were interviewed and tested; of these 895 were accepted as recruits, 10 persons who had previously been members of the Force were re- enlisted, and 191 who had applied in the previous year were also taken on strength. Total enlistments for the year were 1,088. There were 131 applications under investigation at the end of the year.
63. 1,054 recruit constables completed their training during the year, and 412 were still under training on 31st March, 1966.

On 1st April, 1965 there were 82 vacancies in the Rank and File and the Women Police, 711 women applied to join the Force as
