POLICE SPORTS ASSOCIATION

252. This Association promotes all organized Force sports. Member- ship is open to all regular and auxiliary officers, civilian staff and pensioners. At its Boundary Street Ground the Association has a well equipped club house and grounds for football and other sports. Income is derived from monthly subscriptions and football gate receipts.

253. Plans for a swimming pool at the Boundary Street grounds were under preparation at the end of the year. A sum of money from the Police Welfare Fund and the Sports Association Fund has been set aside for this project.

254. The same two funds have provided four Enterprise class dinghies for use by police officers at the new Tai Po Yacht Club.

SPORT

255. The Police Rugby XV reached the final of the Pentangular Tournament but lost to the Hong Kong Football Club XV on 5th March by 3-0.

256. The Football XI played a number of important matches during the year including games against two visiting teams. In August they won against a Combined Services XI and in September lost to a visiting Greek Army team. The Hong Kong/Macau Police Interport match took place on 24th August, 1962. The result was a draw 3 -3.

257. The Annual Swimming Gala was held at the Victoria Park Swimming Pool in September and the Annual Athletics Meeting at Boundary Street in February. Formations were well represented at both

events.

258. In November Mr. P. M. FIELD, Inspector of Police, represented Hong Kong in the 800 m. event at the British Commonwealth and Empire Games held at Perth.

259. A Police Rowing IV won the open trophy at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club's closing regatta at Tai Po in July.

260. The Force table tennis team were runners-up in the Govern- ment Inter-Departmental Table Tennis competition.

POLICE RECREATION CLUB

261. Membership of this club is open to all officers of the rank of probationary Inspector and above. The club provides facilities for Cricket, Lawn Bowls, Tennis, Billiards and social functions.
