92. Wireless and telegraphy Courses of six months' duration were held and eight officers passed the Postmaster General's examination. Another nine officers were attending a similar course at the end of the

year.

COURSES IN UNITED KINGDOM

93. 4 Superintendents and 16 Junior officers attended courses in the United Kingdom during the year.

TRAINING OF AUXILIARY POLICE

94. During the year 1,178 members of the Auxiliary Police attended annual training Camps at the Police Training School.

COURSES FOR NON-POLICE PERSONNEL

95. During the year, five three-week training courses for Police Interpreters were held at the Police Training School to assist newly joined members of the General Clerical Service and to provide refresher training for other civilian staff of the Force. A total of 43 clerical officers attended.

96. In February 1962, a special twelve-day Drill Instructors' course for twenty officers of the Fire Services Department was held at the Police Training School.

97. Assistance in the training of Sub-Inspectors was given to the Hawker Control Force. Two such officers were undergoing training with a Police Probationary Inspectors 'A' Course at the end of the year.

INTERNAL SECURITY TRAINING

98. This is undertaken by the Police Training Contingent but is also carried out in divisions. All members of the Uniformed Branch undergo periodic internal security training and two major Police/ Military exercises were held during the year.

THE POLICE TRAINING CONTINGENT

99. This Contingent has two main roles: first, to provide a body of trained men immediately available for use in an emergency; and second, to provide training in internal security duties for Superintendents, Junior Officers and the Rank and File.

100. The Internal Security Courses at the Police Training Contingent commence with a three-week cadre course for Junior Officers and
