There were no police officers killed on duty. The number of resignations has substantially increased. There were 260 resignations in 1961-62 as against 80 in 1960-61. The reasons for this increase are believed to be the less demanding and better-paid jobs which young men can find outside the Force and also the attraction of employment in the United Kingdom.

DISCIPLINE

55. A total of 985 disciplinary offences occurred as compared with 1,109 during 1960-61.

56. There was no change in the conditions of service which are shown at Appendix III.
