the training of Police drivers. Each section has a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent in charge.

THE ANTI-CORRUPTION BRANCH

47. This Branch, which is part of the C.I.D., is responsible for the detection and investigation of corrupt practices. It is commanded by a Senior Superintendent.

NARCOTICS BUREAU

48. This bureau, which is also integrated with the C.I.D., is respon- sible for detecting narcotic trafficking in the Colony. It was separated from the Anti-Corruption Branch when that Branch was reorganized during the year. The officer commanding is a Superintendent.

POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL

49. The School not only provides initial training courses for all recruits to the Force but advanced, specialised and refresher training for serving members at various stages in their careers. The Commandant of the School is a Senior Superintendent.

POLICE TRAINING CONTINGENT

50. This Contingent provides a readily available force for use in an emergency as well as full training for all members of the Force in internal security duties. The Commandant is a Senior Superintendent who is responsible to Police Headquarters.

ESTABLISHMENT AND STRENGTH

51. The Force establishment for the financial year 1961-62 was 8,352 as against 8,135 for the previous year. The actual strength on 31st March, 1962, was 7,477, showing a deficiency of 875. This deficiency was caused by vacancies for one Senior Superintendent and three Super- intendents, two Chief Inspectors, fourteen Inspectors and 855 other ranks.
