40. Integrated with the C.I.D., this unit has the dual responsibility of detecting and preventing both corrupt practices and narcotics traffick- ing in the Colony.

THE IMMIGRATION OFFICE

41. The Branch responsibilities include immigration control, issue of British and local travel documents, registration of aliens and the grant of Hong Kong visas.

HEALTH

43. The number of man days lost during the year due to sickness was 21,787 which compares favourably with last year's figure of 26,687. Of this year's total, 5,580 days were granted as sick leave to victims of tuberculosis. The annual Force X-ray revealed 59 new cases of this disease and, compared with last year's figure of 65 and that of 75 for the previous year, a continued decrease is apparent.
