Police Training School. For the first time an advanced training course for inspectors and non-commissioned officers was held.

190. The combined Force has attained a high standard of efficiency and provides an essential increase of strength in times of emergency.

STORES, CLOTHING AND ACCOUTREMENTS

191. The supply was adequate for all branches of the Force. Sufficient stocks are carried for all emergencies. The standard of tailor- ing was generally satisfactory.

COMMUNICATIONS AND TRANSPORT

192. The recommendations submitted to Government for the re- organization of the Police Communications system were accepted in full. As a result the number of radio stations within the Police network will be increased to 158 fixed stations, 218 mobile stations and 40 portable sets.

193. This reorganization involves the replacement of all existing mobile radio equipment and a considerable expansion of the number of Very High Frequency networks. It will also be necessary to establish two major Repeater Stations.

194. The total number of messages received by Police Radio Control was 13,368. This included 9,005 emergency calls which resulted in the arrest of 1,043 persons. There were ninety three false '999' calls.

LAND TRANSPORT

195. To enable the Force to operate in its para-military emergency role there has been a considerable increase in the size of the transport fleet. The Force vehicle establishment is shown below:
