121. The number of patents registered during the year rose by 130 from last year's total to 639. The numbers registered during the past six years have been as follows:

122. Table XXIII shows the number of patents registered accord- ing to the countries of domicile of the grantees, with the previous year's figures for comparison. As will be seen, the United States of America and the United Kingdom remained in that order in the top two places. West Germany, fourth last year, has moved into the third position ousting Japan into fourth place.

123. Owing to the greater number of applications received during the year, the year's revenue at $43,481 was $8,757 more than the previous year.

OFFICIAL RECEIVER IN BANKRUPTCY
AND COMPANIES WINDING UP
124. The Bankruptcy Ordinance and the Rules made thereunder follow with some variations the English Bankruptcy legislation. The law relating to the winding-up of companies by the Court is contained in the Companies Ordinance and the Companies (Winding-up) Rules made thereunder, which are based respectively on the Companies Act 1929, formerly in force in Great Britain, and the Winding-up Rules thereunder.

125. 25 Bankruptcy Notices were filed, and 26 bankruptcy petitions presented during the year, the latter figure being six more than in 1971-72. To these 26 there fell to be added four pending from 1971-72, making in all 30 petitions before the Court. 19 Receiving Orders
