120. Table XXIII shows the number of patents registered accord- ing to the countries of domicile of the grantees, with the previous year's figures for comparison. As will be seen, the United States of America and the United Kingdom remained in that order in the top two places. Japan, fifth last year, has moved into the third position ousting West Germany into fourth place.

Fees

121. Owing to the greater number of applications received during the year, the year's revenue at $34,724 was $8,705 more than the previous year.

Explanatory

PART VI

OFFICIAL RECEIVER IN BANKRUPTCY

AND COMPANIES WINDING UP

122. The Bankruptcy Ordinance and the Rules made thereunder follow with some variations the English Bankruptcy legislation. The law relating to the winding-up of companies by the Court is contained in the Companies Ordinance and the Companies (Winding-up) Rules made thereunder, which are based respectively on the Companies Act 1929, formerly in force in Great Britain, and the Winding-up Rules thereunder.

New Cases

123. Nine Bankruptcy Notices were filed, and 20 bankruptcy peti- tions presented during the year, the latter figure being six more than in 1970-71. To these 20 there fell to be added two pending from 1970-71, making in all 22 petitions before the Court. Two petitions relating to the same debtor were consolidated into one. 15 Receiving Orders and one Administration Order were made, and one petition was withdrawn, leaving four petitions pending at 31st March 1972. One of the 15 Receiving Orders was subsequently rescinded. Adjudication Orders were made in the two 1970-71 cases and in 13 of the 1971-72 cases. The Official Receiver was appointed Trustee in all these cases. Since 1959 there have only been two cases in which the Official Receiver was not appointed Trustee.
