Registration facilities for Hung Hom, Kowloon City and Wong Tai Sin areas were greatly improved by the removal of the Kowloon Births and Deaths Registry from Government Branch Offices, Farm Road, to the Fook Toa Mansion at Nos. 8-12 Sung Wong Toi Road on 5th June 1967. The Yau Ma Tei District Birth Registry also moved to better accommodation in the Kwong Wah Hospital on 1st April 1967 consequent upon the closing of the Yau Ma Tei Public Dispensary, where this Registry was formerly located. The mobile registration team that operated at the Sha Tau Kok Rural Committee Office near the border moved to a temporary office in the Sha Tau Kok Government Primary School following the disturbances in May 1967.

158. According to the 1961 Census the population of the Colony on 7th March 1961 was 3,133,131 including 3,483 persons classified as transients. Since then the estimated population has risen as follows:

The number of registered births in 1967 exceeded that of registered deaths by 68,527, but as it is believed that approximately 5% of all known births were not registered, the natural increase in population is estimated to have been in the region of 73,000..
