Deposits by Fire, Marine and Life Insurance Companies
86. The deposits made by 49 insurance companies with the Registrar of Companies under the Fire and Marine Insurance Com- panies Deposit Ordinance were valued as at 31st March 1967 at $7,933,014 and those made by 32 companies under the Life Insurance Companies Ordinance at $5,529,885.
Trust Companies
87. No trust company was registered under Part VIII of the Trustee Ordinance so that the number of trust companies on the register remained at three.
Money-Lenders
88. Forty money-lenders were registered under the Money-lenders Ordinance, twelve more than in 1965-66. The fee for such registration is $500 per annum. One order of exemption from registration was made by the Governor in Council under Section 6(d) of the Ordinance, namely in respect of the Hong Kong Building and Loan Agency Ltd, the Government sponsored mortgage company mentioned in para- graph 5.
Chinese Partnerships Ordinance

89. There are 22 partnerships on the Register, only one of which has been registered since the war (in 1959-60). The other 21 were registered before 1935, and appear to be no longer in existence.
Limited Partnerships Ordinance
90. This Ordinance, which applies only to such partnerships as in the opinion of the Registrar of Companies can properly be described as non-Chinese partnerships (Chinese partnerships being registrable under the Chinese Partnerships Ordinance--see the preceding para- graph), enables partnerships to be registered between one or more general partners liable for all the debts of the firm and one or more limited partners liable only up to the amount contributed by them to the partnership. Four such partnerships were registered during the year, raising the total number registered to twenty-one, of which only eleven are believed to be still in existence.
