in the 100-metre race at the Annual Interdepartmental Athletic Meet sponsored by the same body. The Department also participated in an Interdepartmental Invitation Relay Race at the 10th Annual Depart- mental Sports Meeting of the Urban Services Department.

190. The Department's Photographic Club continued to receive support, and new members joined during the year. Members entertained each other to shows of colour slides on a number of occasions, and outings were arranged to places of photographic interest in various parts of the Colony.

191. The usual informal Christmas Eve party was held in the Land Office, where members of all other branches met in the afternoon to exchange seasonal greetings.

Acknowledgments

192. It will be evident from the foregoing Report that the Depart- ment again had a very busy year, made all the more harassing by the continued shortage of legal officers and other staff. Inevitably in such circumstances some jobs took longer to complete than would otherwise have been the case, and some just could not be tackled at all. Condi- tions such as these impose a severe strain on staff of all grades, and it is a tribute to their unfailing industry that so much was accomplished during the year without any serious dislocation of the Department's functions. It falls to me, therefore, to express the Registrar General's gratitude and my own to all officers of the Department for another year of sustained effort, and to thank the various Government Depart- ments, Solicitors, Accountants and others who have helped to smooth our way and shown understanding and forbearance with any delays or shortcomings they may have experienced in their dealings with us.

28th September 1966.

W. HUME

Acting Registrar General.
