176. The fees collected during the year amounted to $265,032. Partic- ulars are given in Table XXXVIII.

NEW LEGISLATION
Land
177. The Crown Lands Resumption (Amendment) Ordinance, 1963, amended section 6 of the principal Ordinance to enable a barrister at law or solicitor to be appointed chairman of a Compensation Board.
178. The Tenancy (Prolonged Duration) (Amendment) Ordinance, 1963, amended the principal Ordinance to extend the security of tenure given by the Ordinance, in the cases to which it applies, to five years where the tenancy commenced after 1st July 1963.
179. The Mining (General) (Amendment) Regulations, 1963, amended the Mining (General) Regulations, 1954, with respect inter alia to the procedure on applications for a prospecting or mining licence or mining lease.
Companies
180. The Companies (Prevention of Evasion of the Societies Ordin- ance) Ordinance, 1959, was extended for a further year by a resolution of the Legislative Council passed on 18th December 1963.
Official Receiver
181. The Bankruptcy (Amendment) Rules, 1964, increased, with effect from 1st April 1964, the fees payable in bankruptcy proceedings to the Supreme Court and the Official Receiver, and made several mis- cellaneous amendments to the Rules. The Meetings of Creditors (Amend- ment) Rules, 1964, extended the period for summoning the first meeting of creditors from 14 to 21 days, and enabled proxies to be made out in the handwriting of the creditor's solicitor.
182. The Companies (Winding-up) (Amendment) Rules, 1964, made various minor amendments and corrections to the principal Rules and increased the fees for copying. The Companies (Fees and Percentages) (Amendment) Order, 1964, increased the fees payable in companies winding-up proceedings with effect from 1st April 1964.
