131. The Births and Deaths Registration (Amendment of First Schedule) Regulations, 1961, were enacted changing the places at which births may be registered in Kam Tin and Cheung Chau from the previous offices to the Rural Committee Office in each place.

MISCELLANEOUS
132. On 1st September 1961 the Department was honoured by a visit from the Colonial Secretary, the Honourable C. B. BURGESS, C.M.G., O.B.E., then the Officer Administering the Government of the Colony. Mr. BURGESS met all the senior officers of the Department normally working in the Central Government Offices and inspected the Departmental Headquarters, the Land Office, the Official Receiver's Office and the Companies, Trade Marks, and Patents Registries.
133. Reference has already been made in paragraph 51 to the visit on 19th September 1961 of a Vice President and the General Registrar of the Australian Society of Accountants. In addition, the Department was visited by the members of the Public Services Commission on 9th January 1962, when they inspected the branches in the Central Govern- ment Offices and also the General Register Office and the Principal Marriage Registry. An informal visit was also paid in November by Mr. D. J. COWARD, Registrar-General of Kenya, in the course of his leave from that Colony, and several useful ideas emerged in the course of discussions with him about procedures, conditions and problems in the two Colonies.
Staff and Organization
134. During the year weekly meetings of all legal officers were instituted. At these meetings the senior officers keep the junior officers in touch with policy and other matters dealt with by them, while the junior officers raise problems of general interest encountered in the course of their work. It is hoped that these meetings will keep all legal officers acquainted with what is going on in all branches of the Depart- ment, and thus make it easier for officers to pick up the threads rapidly on any change of duties. A Departmental meeting was held on 12th March 1962 attended by all legal officers, Assistant Registrars and Executive Officers. At this meeting various matters relating to anti-
