one of the forms specified in the Schedule or in a form prescribed by the Land Officer to facilitate dealings with land.

126. The Stamp (Amendment) Ordinance, 1961, inter alia replaced the former Section 42 of the Stamp Ordinance (Cap. 117) with a new section providing that where the Land Officer certifies that any instru- ment affecting any land held from the Crown has been executed in compliance with his requirements for the sole purpose of enabling a Crown lease of the land to be granted to the owner thereof or of enabling the owner of the land to surrender it to the Crown as con- sideration or part consideration for an exchange, and has been replaced by a new instrument affecting the land in the same manner as, and similar as far as possible to, the instrument replaced, and executed immediately upon the granting of the Crown lease, the instruments shall be exempt from stamp duty.

127. The Airfield (Kai Tak) Extension and Reversion (Amendment) Ordinance, 1961, set a final time limit, namely 31st March 1962, for the presentation of claims for compensation under the Airfield (Kai Tak) Extension and Reversion Ordinance (Cap. 246).

Companies

128. The Trade Union Registration Ordinance, 1961, included a section providing that the Companies Ordinance shall not apply to a trade union or a trade union federation, and that the registration of a trade union or a trade union federation thereunder shall be void and of no effect. By Proclamation No. 3 of 1962 dated 27th February 1962 it was proclaimed that the Ordinance should come into operation on 1st April 1962.

129. The Companies (Forms) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1961, added a proviso to the new para, 8 of the Companies (Forms) Order introduced by the Companies (Forms) (Amendment) Order, 1961, giving the Registrar of Companies power in any case in which a dissenting shareholder has no address within the Colony, to give a direction as to the manner in which notice shall be given to him pursuant to section 153 of the Companies Ordinance.

130. The Companies (Prevention of Evasion of the Societies Ordin- ance) Ordinance, 1959, was extended for a further year by a resolution of the Legislative Council passed on 13th December 1961.
