NEW LEGISLATION

104. The Mining (Amendment) Ordinance, 1960, inter alia intro- duced a new section 67A into the Mining Ordinance enabling the Land Officer in the case of a mining lease to require the lessee to give security, (a) for sums payable to the owners or occupiers of private land as compensation for the use of the surface and for damage done, and (b) for sums payable to the Crown by way of royalties, rental, fees, damages, or otherwise.

105. The Foreshores and Sea Bed (Amendment) Ordinance, 1960, by deleting subsection (8) of section 3 of the principal Ordinance extended to cases in the New Territories the provisions of section 3 requiring the insertion in the Gazette of the terms of the proposed Crown leases and a description of the property intended to be demised.

Companies

106. The Companies (Prevention of Evasion of the Societies Ordin- ance) Ordinance, 1959, was extended for a further year by a resolution of the Legislative Council passed on 9th December, 1960.

107. The Companies (Forms) (Amendment) Order, 1961, added to the Companies (Forms) Order a new paragraph prescribing the mode in which a notice in Form XI of the Schedule may be given by a transferee company pursuant to section 153 of the Companies Ordin- ance (Cap. 32).

Births and Deaths

108. The Births and Deaths Registration (Amendment of First Schedule) (No. 2) Regulations, 1960, amended the First Schedule to the Births and Deaths Registration Ordinance (Cap. 174) to show the Birth Register Office for Tsuen Wan as being the new Tsuen Wan District Birth Registry opened on 7th June, 1960, instead of the Rural Committee Office as formerly.
