Crown Leases
11. 271 Crown Leases were issued, this being the largest number issued in a year since the war. The lots for which the Leases were issued were of the following categories:

Hung Hom Inland Lots
New Kowloon
New Kowloon Inland Lots

The issue of these Leases was greatly facilitated by the introduction during the year of a new procedure under which the Counterparts instead of being typed are produced by photostating the original Leases. At the same time, by arrangement with the Crown Lands and Surveys Office, photostat plans were taken into use for affixing to the Counter- part Leases. These replace the linen tracings formerly in use, and there is in consequence a very considerable saving in draughtsmen's time.
12. Table II shows the numbers of Crown Leases issued annually since 1950/51.
Modification of Lease Covenants
13. 39 applications were received for the modification of restrictive covenants or conditions in Crown Leases and Conditions of Sale, etc. These were mainly either to allow of more intensive development by the erection of blocks of flats or in the case of industrial lots to permit the use of the lot for general industrial purposes instead of for a limited range of industrial purposes as specified in the Crown Lease or Condi-
