for each year since 1946/47; Table II, the numbers of instruments registered by categories for each year since 1953/54; and Table III, the total considerations on the Assignments, Mortgages, and Reassign- ments registered for each year since 1947/48. From Tables I and II it will be seen that the numbers of instruments registered have risen sharply over the past few years. The increase in the number of assign- ments is mainly attributable to the recent construction of many huge blocks of flats, the flats in which are sold off individually and so become in effect separate properties.
