73. Table XVII shows the total revenue of the Department for 1955/56 amounted to $1,131,146.49, nearly double the previous year's total of $587,774. The total expenditure of the Department for 1955/56 was $659,176.83.
74. By G.N. 344 of 1956, H.E. the Governor was pleased to appoint the Registrar General or his representative to be a member of the Law Reform Committee set up to examine and consider legislation enacted in the United Kingdom, having regard especially to the reports of the Law Reform Committee appointed by the Lord Chancellor on the 16th June, 1952; and to make recommendations, in the light of local circumstances, for the reform of the laws of the Colony.
75. Mr. W. G. FitzGibbon, M.B.E., J.P., who first joined Government Service in Hong Kong in 1913, and who had been Assistant Registrar in charge of the Trade Marks Registry since 21st July, 1951, left the Colony on retirement leave on 22nd May, 1955. He had played a valuable part in the drafting of the Trade Marks Ordinance, 1954. He was succeeded by Mr. E. R. Maycock, who joined the Department on 6th May, 1955.
76. The Registrar General resumed duty on his return from vacation leave on 26th October, 1955. During his absence Mr. W. K. Thomson acted as Registrar General, and Mr. C. M. Stevens as Deputy Registrar General.
