held from one year to two years, and the maximum period for which a mining licence may be held from two to five years. The Mining (General) (Amendment) Regulations, 1955, made corresponding amendments in the Mining (General) Regulations,

Marriages

69. The Marriage Ordinance (Amendment of Second Schedule) Order, 1955, introduced a new fee of $1.00 for a Notice of marriage, and increased the Search and Certified copy fees with effect from 26th August, 1955.

Companies

70. The Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 1955, in- creased with effect from 1st June, 1955, the fees payable to the Registrar of Companies under the Ninth Schedule to the prin- cipal Ordinance. The principal increases were in the fees for registration, now $100 plus $2.00 per $1,000 of the nominal share capital, for registration of an increase in the nominal share capital, now $2.00 per $1,000 of the increase, and for registration of a return of allotments by a company having on the 1st day of June, 1955, a nominal share capital in excess of $3,000,000, now $5 plus $2.00 per $1,000 of such excess nominal share capital allotted after that date. The Ordinance inter alia also altered the composition of the Authorized Auditors Board by including the Commissioner of Inland Revenue as one of the ex officio members, and empowers the Board to appoint a secretary; It also authorizes the Registrar to adopt a modified procedure for striking off the Register companies about whose registered office, directors, officers and share-holders, no informa- tion is available, and directs the Registrar to transfer the income of the Companies Liquidation Account annually to general revenue.

71. The Companies (Fees and Percentages) (Amendment) Order, 1955, increased as from 14th October, 1955, various fees payable to the Supreme Court and the Official Receiver on the winding-up of companies.
