Deposits by Fire, Marine, and Life Insurance Companies
31. The deposits made by Insurance Companies with the Registrar of Companies under the Fire and Marine Insurance Companies Deposit Ordinance (Cap. 34) and those made under the Life Insurance Companies Ordinance (Cap. 36) are shown in Tables X and XI respectively.
Chinese Partnerships Ordinance (Cap. 31)
32. There have been no partnerships registered under the Chinese Partnerships Ordinance since the war. Only 21 Chinese Partnerships have ever been registered, the last registration being in 1934.
Limited Partnerships Ordinance (Cap. 37)
33. There have been two Limited Partnerships registered since the war, one in 1946 and one in 1948. Prior to these, there were only two registrations, one in 1913 and one in 1919.
Revenue
34. The fees collected totalled $524,233.06, nearly four times as much as for 1954/55. This large increase was mainly due to the increased fees payable with effect from 1st June, 1955, under the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 1955, which among other changes introduced a registration fee of $100 plus $2.00 per $1,000 of nominal share capital, and abolished the former maximum limit of $500 on the amount of a company's capital registration fee. The comparative figures for 1955/56 and 1954/55 are as follows:
