were registered (all under the old Ordinance), an increase of 129 on the previous year's total. The Classes in which these 1,141 Marks were registered are shown in Table IX; the countries of origin of the applications for these marks, in Table X.

32. 27 Trade Marks which were on the lost pre-war Register were registered in the new Register under the Trade Marks Register (Reconstruction) Ordinance (Cap. 262)—making a total of 3,181 old Register Marks registered in the new Register.

33. 10 Trade Marks were removed from the Register for non-payment of the registration renewal fee, and 4 at the request of the registered proprietors.

34. The total number of Trade Marks on the Register on 31st March, 1955, was 10,960.

Oppositions to Registration.

35. In 11 cases, notices of opposition to applications for registration were received. Two oppositions went to hearings before the Registrar.

Miscellaneous.

36. 186 Marks were registered as Associated Trade Marks under Section 24 of the old Ordinance. 257 Trade Mark registra- tions were renewed for a period of 14 years. 118 changes were made in the names and addresses of registered proprietors. 189 persons were entered in the Register as subsequent proprietors of registered Trade Marks by assignment, transmission or other operation of law.

Fees.

37. Fees collected amounted to $71,260.00, an increase of $20,433.00 over the previous year's total, due largely to increased fees paid on applications made during the first quarter of 1955 under the new Ordinance.
