64. The Trade Marks (Amendment) Rules, 1953, have simplified procedure by providing for advertisement of Applica- tions in one issue of the Gazette instead of once a month for three months.

Trustee Ordinance.

65. The Judicial Trustee Rules, 1953, promulgated in December, 1953, provide that where an official of the Court is appointed Judicial Trustee, the Registrar General shall be so appointed, unless, for special reasons, the Court directs that some other official of the Court shall be so appointed. No case has yet occurred in which the Registrar General has been appointed Judicial Trustee.

Official Solicitor.

66. The Supreme Court (Amendment) Ordinance, 1953, enacted in June, 1953, amended Section 8(2) of the Supreme Court Ordinance (Chapter 4) to provide that the functions and powers of the Official Solicitor in Lunacy shall be exercised by the Registrar General. The Schedule to the Registrar General (Establishment) Ordinance (Chapter 100) was amended accord- ingly by the Registrar General (Establishment) (Amendment) Ordinance, 1953. One lunacy case was dealt with during the year.

Establishment.

67. The addition of a new post of Legal Assistant to the Registrar General was authorized, and the Registrar General (Establishment) (Amendment) Ordinance, 1953, referred to in the preceding paragraph, amended the principal Ordinance to provide accordingly. Due to the difficulty of recruiting Solicitors, however, the new post was not filled by the end of the year.
