Companies Registration.
17. During 1953/54, 201 new companies with a total nominal capital of $332,246,600.00 were incorporated in Hong Kong under the provisions of the Companies Ordinance (Chapter 32), and 23 Certificates of Compliance with the pro- visions of Part XI of the Ordinance were issued to foreign corporations which had established a place of business within the Colony. These figures represent a decrease of 28 and an increase of 3 respectively from the comparable figures for 1952/53.
18. As at 31st March, 1954, the total number of companies incorporated in the Colony and registered at the Companies Registry was 2,623, and the total number of foreign corpora- tions which have established a place of business in Hong Kong and complied with the provisions of Part XI of the Ordinance was 457.
