TRADE MARKS REGISTRY
25. 1,042 applications for the registration of new trade marks were received during the year. 936 new trade marks were registered, an increase of 144 on the number registered during the previous year. 130 pre-war trade marks were re- registered under the provisions of the Trade Marks Register (Reconstruction) Ordinance, as against only 12 registered in the year ended 31st March, 1952. 11 marks were removed from the Register for non-payment of renewal fees. Registrations of 11 marks were cancelled on the request of the registered proprietors. The total number of trade marks on the Register on the 31st March, 1953, was 8,761.
26. Fees collected during the period amounted to $50,128.00 an increase of $7,253 over the previous year's total.

PATENTS REGISTRY
27. 9 applications for the registration of patents were received, and 9 new patents were registered. No pre-war patents were registered during the period. The total number of patents on the Register is now 81.
28. Fees collected during the period amounted to $481.60.
