49. Mr. G. L. Herdman, Deputy Registrar of Marriages, left on vacation leave on 15th September, 1951, whereupon his duties were taken over by Mr. W. G. FitzGibbon.
50. The four newly appointed Assistant Registrars were (with their dates of assuming duties in brackets) Mr. A. L. Cole (1st July, 1951), Mr. R. E. Low (9th July, 1951), Mr. W. G. FitzGibbon (21st July, 1951) and Mr. A. Garcia (10th August, 1951). Mr. Cole was Assistant Registrar in charge of the Companies Registry until 12th October, 1951, when he had the misfortune to contract a serious illness. He proceeded on vacation leave on 11th March, 1952, without having resumed duty. His duties were taken over by Mr. Garcia who had been assisting him with Companies and Official Receiver's work. Mr. FitzGibbon was Assistant Registrar in charge of the Trade Marks and Patents Registries and also acted as Deputy Registrar of Marriages while Mr. Herdman was on leave. Mr. Low was in charge of the Land Office.
51. Mr. Ng Shun Keung, Executive Officer Class II, was transferred to the Department on 20th June, 1951, and took over the duties of Accountant from Mr. A. L. Cole on 1st July, 1951, when the latter was promoted Assistant Registrar. Mr. S. A. Fowler, Land Bailiff, Public Works Department, was seconded to the Department on 22nd October, 1951, to assist with the work in the Companies Registry and Land Office.
