Crop compensation and any other compensation for private land under the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance is paid before the land is finally cleared.

CLEARANCE DURING THE YEAR

58. During 1966-1967, the sub-division cleared about 53.2 acres of land in 213 operations, including 20 involving 9.4 acres of cultivation on which $431,112.52 was paid in compensation. These clearances were undertaken for the following purposes:

(a) Private and Government low cost housing (b) Roads, drainage and reservoirs

(c) Schools, playgrounds and parks (d) Public buildings

(e) Land sales and development
