members turned out, some with family members, in considerable numbers and with keen interest.

99. There were four deaths amongst junior staff during the year and the Association contributed a sum of $50.00 towards funeral expenses to the dependants in each case. Other measures of welfare work are under close study by a Sub-Committee of the Association.

100. His Excellency, the Officer Administering the Government, C. B. BURGESS, C.M.G., O.B.E. visited the department on 14th Septem- ber, 1961. The Rt. Hon. the Lord Mayor of London, Sir Bernard WALEY-COHEN in company with the Chief Commoner, Mr. Deputy H. W. Keith CALDER, the Sword-bearer, Col. B. J. D. LUMSDEN and the Common Cryer and Serjeant-at-Arms, Brigadier P. J. E. CLAPHAM, visited the Chai Wan Estate and the Shing On Garden Village on 11th September, 1961. Resettlement estates and areas were also visited during the year by many other persons from abroad.
