describes the work of the City District Offices and how they help the public and the young in their work and in their studies. 'For the Blind' features vocational training courses for the handicapped and covers activities of interest to them. 'Late Call' is a weekly one-hour telephone show in which a C.D.O. and a Senior Government Officer are invited to explain the policies and activities of Government depart- ments or public institutions. Listeners phone in and ask for informa- tion or make comments or criticisms on a wide variety of subjects. 'Farmers Week' and 'Fishermen's Half Hour', are two specialist pro- grammes jointly produced by the Agriculture and Fisheries Department and Radio Hong Kong. They provide up-to-date information for the farming and fishing communities.

Entertainment

15. Art song and Folk song recitals from our studios remain very popular. Over 20 pop singers were invited to take part in the Chinese New Year Show which lasted over 2 hours.

16. Relays from night clubs every Saturday and Sunday evening continue to be a feature of week-end broadcasting. The venue for night club relays changes every 3 months.

17. Durig the year Radio Hong Kong Chinese artists made a second EMI (HK) long playing record. On this occasion it was the Cantonese opera "The Lady General'.

18. Following the Asian Broadcasting Union's successful exchange programme of 'Lullabies and Children's Music' in 1971-72, another project, an exchange of folk songs, took place in 1972-73. Programmes were received from Japan, England, Fiji and Maritius among others. Chinese folk songs, recorded in the studios of RHK, were distributed to those countries in return.

Drama

19. The Drama Section maintains a high output, broadcasting some 50 plays a week. One serial play is broadcast daily, six other plays are broadcast each weekday. Chinese radio drama is divided into the following categories:

(i) Original radio plays by commissioned writers;

(ii) Translated plays; and

(iii) Adaptations.
