Mr. I. D. KINGSLEY acted as Director and Mr. CHow Nai-yeung as Deputy Director. Messrs. T. A. BIRCH, T. E. JUSON and K. S. MCBRYDE returned from vacation leave in September, October and December 1971 respectively.
84. Mr. I. D. KINGSLEY, Acting Director of Broadcasting, Messrs. J. B. HAWTHORNE, Controller of Television, and Mr. Tam Kai-cheong, Assistant Engineer, attended the 8th General Assembly of the Asian Broadcasting Union in October 1971 in Manila, Philippines.
85. During the 1st quarter of 1972, four Programme Officers and five Assistant Programme Officers were posted to the Television Sec- tion. Four overseas officers and three local officers were recruited to the English and Chinese Services respectively during the year under review.
86. On 31st March, 1972, the staff numbered 155, 66 being pro- gramme staff and the others being engaged in executive, clerical and other duties. There were 13 vacant programme staff posts, 2 vacant Record Librarian posts, 1 vacant Confidential Assistant post and 3 vacant General Clerk posts.
87. In conclusion, I should like to thank all members of my staff and those of Cable and Wireless attached to Radio Hong Kong, who have worked with their customary dedication, and to listeners and viewers who have provided valuable comments and criticism.
