69. Amongst the most important outside broadcasts during the year under review was the visit of H.R.H. The Princess Anne during October for a period of 7 days. Commencing with her arrival at Kai Tak Airport both broadcasting services broadcast 'live' commentaries of the many visits that she made throughout Hong Kong. Certain broad- casts were carried out by VHF links on board H.M.S. Beachampton, a good vantage point whenever she crossed the harbour on the Governor's launch. Broad coverage was given to the opening of the second Cable and Wireless Earth Satellite Station at Stanley.

70. Considerable outside broadcast coverage was given to the depart- ture of the retiring Governor, H.E. Sir David TRENCH and the arrival of H.E. Sir Murray MACLEHOSE. Another important period in the O.B. calendar was coverage of the Festival of Hong Kong with its many outside and indoor events.

Equipment/Installations

71. Equipment was fabricated in order to carry out acoustic tests of Studio S.2 using the Tone Burst Method. The measurements were carried out and the results forwarded to the Building Project Architect in order that the studio could be modified to meet design specifications.

72. To allow for the recording of separate items for the programme 'Topics' and the recording and reproducing of 'jingles' for 'pop' pro- grammes, cartridge reproducers were installed in Studio C.4 and a
