56. The most important musical events of the year for Radio Hong Kong took place during British Week. The English Service arranged a special 'Festival of British Music' which lasted from the 1st to the 20th March. 57. The highlights of the 'Festival of British Music' were the live broadcasts of the concerts given by the London Symphony Orchestra, which came to Hong Kong for British Week; these were augmented by several instrumental and vocal recitals from Radio Hong Kong's own Concert Hall, many of which were contributed by members of the LSO.
58. Amongst the more famous British composers whose works were broadcast during the festival were PURCELL, RAWSTHORNE, IRELAND, BAX, Vaughan WILLIAMS, TIPPETT, DOWLAND, BRITTEN and WALTON.
59. During the year other recitals from the Concert Hall of Radio Hong Kong were given by such visiting artists as Annie ALT and Gerald
