Reception of Overseas Programme

91. During the year a total of 1,466 English and 1,083 Chinese pro- grammes were received at Mt. Butler for direct relay or recording by Radio Hong Kong. This represented a drop of 40% in the English pro- grammes compared with the previous year, mainly due to the cessation of Radio Australia News relay. The Chinese Service requirements were approximately the same as 1962-63.

92. The standard of reception of the B.B.C. broadcasts direct from London and via the B.B.C. Far Eastern Station in Singapore was generally acceptable. In the summer months from June to September a better signal is obtained from Singapore than from London direct.
