'The Critics'

65. At the end of the year 'The Critics' returned to the microphone and each Saturday evening met to discuss and review a comprehensive selection of films, plays, radio and T.V. programmes, musical events, local exhibitions, etc.

'Women's World' and 'Junior Fare'

66. Both 'Women's World' and 'Junior Fare' were reinstated at the end of the year and these programmes provided for the ladies and youngsters respectively fares of topical items and entertainment.

'Motoring Magazine'

67. Later in the year the two motoring programmes 'Motoring Magazine' and 'Behind the Wheel' were combined to make one monthly feature for all road users.

'The Sea Around Us'

68. A companion programme to 'Motoring Magazine' is "The Sea Around Us' a magazine production dealing with ships, both large and small and the men who sail them. The problems of small boat owners were discussed, and there was much advice offered on how to get the best out of a boat in the interesting waters around Hong Kong.

AUDIENCE RESEARCH

69. A comprehensive questionnaire concerning the English Service programme was distributed to some 400 listeners in February 1963. The replies are now being studied and a summary will be included in the next Annual Report.

ENGINEERING

GENERAL

70. Accommodation in Mercury House has continued to be critical- for engineering activities no less than for administrative and programme operations. During the year Wellington Barracks, part of the old Naval base, was investigated with a view to the transfer of all Radio Hong Kong's technical and programme services from the present headquarters. Measurements of the sound levels in the building were taken and
