Radio Sarawak, Radio Singapore and Radio Malaya.
123. Radio Hong Kong continued to supply Radio Sarawak, Radio Singapore and Radio Malaya with Kuoyu radio plays. In addition, instrumental recitals, classical Cantonese concerts, Peking operas and art song recitals were supplied to Radio Malaya.
Radio Nederland
124. Some excellent light music programmes were received from Radio Nederland.
Messrs. Rediffusion (H.K.) Ltd.
125. Rediffusion relayed a considerable number of English and Chinese programmes from Radio Hong Kong, and again joined with Radio Hong Kong in a number of charity programmes.
Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company Ltd.
126. The H.K.C.B.C. relayed news bulletins from Radio Hong Kong, and also co-operated in 'Operation Fat Choy'.
Other Broadcasting Organizations
127. In addition to organizations mentioned above, programme material was also received from Radiodiffusion-Televisions Francaise, U.N.E.S.C.O., S.E.A.T.O.. World Health Organization, Radio Gospel Fellowship and Columbia Pictures Corporation.
STAFF WELFARE
128. A Staff Welfare Committee was formed during the year.
BROADCASTS FOR CHARITY
129. Thirty five broadcast appeals in Chinese, and twenty three in English were made during the year. Charity concerts produced by the Chinese Service of Radio Hong Kong or Rediffusion and broadcast by both organizations realized $293,021, whilst the English Service of Radio Hong Kong in a programme designed to help poor children at Christmas, 'Operation Santa Claus', brought in $45,500.
130. I should like to record my thanks to all my staff as well as those of Messrs. Cable and Wireless Ltd., who together have made this year of challenge and development both possible and successful.
