164. The BBC Far Eastern Correspondent, previously based in Singapore, transferred his base to Hong Kong in January 1960 and Radio Hong Kong provides studio and recording facilities for him. Contributions were also made to several BBC domestic sound pro-

grammes.

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

165. Use was made of several high quality transcriptions from the International Service of the CBC, and studio and recording facilities were provided by Radio Hong Kong for the English and French com- mentators of CBC based in Hong Kong.

Australian Broadcasting Commission

166. Several visitors came from the ABC during the year, including Mr. John DOUGLASS, Director of Rural Broadcasting, Mr. Malcolm NAYLOR, Manager of the ABC's station in Papua and Mr. Gerald LYONS, television producer who was making a film on Hong Kong for the ABC. Radio Hong Kong supplied Radio Australia with recordings of Peking opera for use in its Chinese Service, and Radio Australia supplied magazine programmes in English to Radio Hong Kong.

167. Interviews with the Australian Senior Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong and the Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry were recorded by Radio Hong Kong for use in the ABC's Rural pro- grammes.

The Voice of America

168. VOA again made available some excellent drama and popular music shows. Discussions with the Chief of the VOA's World Wide English Division, Mr. Burtt F. MCKEE, Jr, during his visit to Hong Kong resulted in VOA providing several series of discussion pro- grammes, excellently produced, on music, the theatre and the cinema in the United States.

Radio Sarawak

169. Radio Hong Kong continued to supply Radio Sarawak and Radio Sabah in North Borneo with transcriptions of Kuoyu plays. Mr. R. J. BROOKS, Information Officer, North Borneo, and Mr. J. DINWIDDIE, Head of Programmes in Radio Sabah, visited Hong Kong and held useful discussions.
