C. Candau, Director-General of W.H.O.
Christopher Chataway and Steven Hearst, in Hong Kong preparing a television feature for the B.B.C., took part in a television brains trust in December, answering questions from an invited audience.
The Third Asian Film Festival was fully covered in talks, commentaries and a film forum, in which delegates discussed the problems of film production in S. E. Asia.
Many celebrities passing through the Colony were interviewed, including the Rt. Hon. Herbert Morrison. A full list is to be found in Appendix B.
95. Book reviews were broadcast weekly, the books being obtained from the publishers with the assistance of the British Council. Miss Tomblin of the Council broadcast a very useful series of 'Students Guides', for the assistance of students going to Britain for the first time.

96. News bulletins were broadcast three times daily, two bulletins being prepared in the Public Relations Office, and the third being relayed from the General Overseas Service of the B.B.C. As mentioned elsewhere, two extra bulletins were relayed from the B.B.C. at the time of the Middle East crisis. One of these, at 9 p.m., was retained after the crisis had passed. This bulletin was followed by five minutes of 'Home News From Britain', which proved most popular. It has a lighthearted approach and presents domestic British news in a very attractive manner. The problem of the girl fire-eater trying to get a petrol allowance after rationing was introduced in Britain and similar stories are welcome digestives after the solid meal of world news.
