Features.
90. The major feature programmes of the year were Timothy Birch's 'Portrait of a Club', which traced the history of the Hong Kong Club back to its founding, 'Hong Kong Flotilla', by Ted Thomas, the story of the changes taking place in the Colony's naval forces, and 'This Way the Water Comes Down' by Timothy Birch, which was broadcast to commemorate the opening of the Tai Lam Chung Water Supply Scheme.
A short feature was produced to aid the anti-mosquito campaign of the Urban Council. The 60th birthday of Edmund Blunden was celebrated by a feature 'Fortunate Uncharted Way' written by Alec Hardie, and mention has been made elsewhere of 'Back to Normal', the actuality programme produced after the civil disturbances. Another naval occasion was the visit of H.M.S. 'Albion', which for the English programme resulted in 'Wings Over the Sea'-a day at sea on exercises with the aircraft carrier.
91. The writing and production of feature programmes is often a lengthy business, and although many subjects presented themselves the staff shortage limited their production.
Several features produced by the United Nations were broad- cast, including 'I, The Diplomat', a programme for U.N. Day. Magazine programme and talks.
92. Motoring Magazine carried out its monthly road tests on new cars, presented problems of the moment to motoring enthusiasts and the motoring 'Brains Trust' answered listeners queries. Other magazines such as 'Women Only', 'This Week', 'Sports Cavalcade' and 'Thursday Scrapbook' are dealt with elsewhere in this report.
93. Two series of short stories were broadcast, which included stories from four authors in Hong Kong, Alex Borrie, Gil Crowe, Seamus Rainbird and George Ramage.
94. The range of subjects covered in talks was wide and included the Buddha Jayanti, a talk by Brook Bernacchi to com-
