The Pinna Sisters, who had won a previous contest, introduced each show with a signature tune composed by another contestant in an earlier show.

85. 'London Pride' was a musical evocation of London in six parts compiled by Ronald Decent, a regular Army Officer in the Colony, who used the songs and sounds of London and a nimble turn of phrase in a musical journey through the city.

86. Ronald Decent also appeared as a regular member of the panel of 'It's in The News', the weekly game in which 'the management' represented by John Wallace as chairman, tried to outwit the team in presenting impossibly difficult clues to the newspaper headlines of the week. Although many of the clues were so fantastic that their connexion with the news item appeared to be almost non-existent, the panel demonstrated its tenacity in reading the papers from cover to cover by beating the management in almost every programme.

87. Tessie O'Shea appeared in one of the three Combined Services Entertainment concert parties broadcast by Radio Hong Kong. These groups have a concentrated round of shows to put on in service camps and establishments, but there is usually an opportunity to record a special radio show before a public per- formance, or to record the performance and broadcast excerpts from it.

88. Another 'Operation Fat Choy' took the air in January, and for three nights the money rolled into the Tiger Standard's drive for Chinese New Year funds for needy families. Disk jockeys were John Wallace, Frank Miles, Charles Harvey, Nick Kendall, Ted Thomas and Ray Hamilton. John Wallace jumped into the harbour for a $1,000 pledge, and four of the jockeys ran a rickshaw race for large pledges. The show was again a combined production of Radio Hong Kong and Rediffusion.

89. The Hong Kong Stage Club and the Garrison Players both contributed to the year's broadcast drama, the largest production being Harold Brighouse's comedy of life in the North of England, ‘Hobson's Choice'.
