14% of these programmes were recorded in the field using Ferrograph tape recorders. The rest were broadcast by line connexion to the studio, twenty three permanent outside broadcast points now being connected for this purpose. The Hong Kong Telephone Company provided the lines for this network as well as the other necessary line connexions for the station.
Further progress was made in the improvement of facilities at outside broadcast points. The new H.K. Stadium at Sookunpoo has two separate booths in the roof of the stand available for Radio Hong Kong, and permanent microphone wiring is being added. These broadcasting booths were handed over for the opening ceremony in December. Microphone wiring was also provided for us in the rebuilt Union Church, Kennedy Road, where the Church authorities gave every assistance with the broadcasting arrangements. Planning of the Legislative Council Chamber in the new Secretariat and the City Hall includes provision for broadcasting booths and permanent wiring.
Close liaison with the Architectural Office of P.W.D. on this aspect of the two projects has been maintained.
A summary of the use of outside broadcast lines during the year appears at Appendix "E".
