included, by the Hong Kong Stage Club, "Encounter on the Balkan Express" by Woffgang Hildesheimer, "Flight to World's End" from a story by Gerald Kersh and "Triple Crown" by Alan Kennington; while among the Garrison Players' pro- ductions were "Two Gentlemen of Soho" by A. P. Herbert, "The Man Who Murdered Himself" by Lionel Brown and "My Pride in My Pocket" by Antony Buckeridge.

73. Radio Hong Kong staff productions included con- tributions to the two Festivals of the Arts: for the first festival, "The Fair Quaker of Deal" a comedy by Charles Shadwell, and for the second Festival, "Lady Precious Stream” by S. I. Hsiung, with the author himself as narrator and the special incidental music played by the Hong Kong Concert Orchestra. In both productions the players were drawn from among the leading amateur dramatic groups.

Sports

74. The interests of local sportsmen were catered for by the two sports editors Brig Young and John Wallace, assisted by Ted Thomas. Between them they broadcast commentaries on all the major sporting events of the year. The association football season was covered in full with commentaries on the major league matches being broadcast every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Many of these matches were played at the new Government Stadium at Sookunpoo where the new com- mentators' box proved its worth, being christened at the ceremonial opening on 3rd December of the stadium by H.E. the Governor, which was followed by a match between All Hong Kong and a team from Laurenço Marques.

75. For the second time the annual cross harbour swimming race was covered by a team of commentators armed with portable recording equipment and following the race on a Marine Department launch. As in the previous year the recordings were being broadcast within a few minutes of the end of the race.

76. In co-operation with Radio Vila Verde, Macao, com- mentaries on the 2nd Macao Grand Prix were relayed; this
