A weekly outside broadcast of dance music from a leading restaurant was carried simultaneously by the Chinese and English Services from November to the end of the year. For the first time in a programme of this kind bi-lingual presentation was used.

The Combined Services Tattoo at the Caroline Hill Stadium provided the most spectacular entertainment of the year. Commentaries were broadcast by both language sections on two successive evenings.

Public Services

13. Weather reports compiled by the Royal Observatory were broadcast by both Chinese and English Services in the early morning, noon and evening transmissions. Monsoon, storm and other warnings, and the hoisting and lowering of the red-flag at the Colony's beaches were broadcast when the need arose.

14. For the convenience of listeners and in response to numerous requests a daily report of the closing prices on the Hong Kong stock market was started in November, details being supplied by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and the report broadcast in both languages.

15. A "Daily Diary" drawing the attention of listeners to events of public interest was instituted as a regular broadcast after the morning news on both Chinese and English Services.

16. Air time was made available to all candidates in the Urban Council Elections to broadcast their platforms to the electorate over both services of Radio Hong Kong.

17. Time was allocated on request to the organizers of Flower and Flag Days to broadcast appeals for support to the general public.

18. On several occasions special police, army and other official messages were broadcast at the request of the authorities concerned.
