Drama

The station continued to put emphasis on the output of the Chinese drama section which, unlike the English service, cannot draw on overseas sources for material. The drama unit relies on the services of 30 contributing artists under the guidance of four staff producers. Together they created 35 weekly half hour programmes and a weekly hour-long radio play.
Although it is impossible to list all the programmes audience research showed that the light hearted but sarcastic "Blue Collar - White Collar" programme which started nearly 2 years ago, continued to be popular. To take advantage of this a similar programme "Situation Comedy" was created and has met with similar success.

Other popular programmes produced by the Drama Section include "Love Rhapsody" Stories of love but not necessarily of romance, "Hong Kong Stories" a series based on the police force's continuing battle against crime, and "The Sexes" a programme designed to arouse controversial opinions and discussion.
Cantonese Opera

The ever popular Lung Cheung Opera troupe, in conjunction with the Entertainment section of the Urban Council gave a total of 85 outside performances, or eight
a month, at various outside venues during the year. Audiences to the outside performances were as high as five thousand per show.
A highlight of the company's year was the staging of the show "The Triumphant Return of The Army" in the presence of Her Majesty, The Queen, on May 6th, during the Royal Visit to Hong Kong. The same night the stations Chinese Orchestra was
