(d) Melbourne Apartments, Ritz Apartments.
We recommend that the accommodation rates for "resident guests" in these hotels should be $10 to $12 per day for double rooms and $5 for single rooms.
We also recommend that 70% of the accommodation in these hotels be reserved for "resident guests”.
(e) Lucky Apartments and Tuk Lin Apartments.
We recommend that the accommodation rates for resident guests should be on the basis of $8 for a double room and $4 for a single room per day.
We further recommend that 100% of the accommodation be re- served for "resident guests”.
(ii) Rates for Food.
We recommend that the rate of $5.50 per day for food be the maximum which "resident guests" should be charged.
(iii) Services and Extra Charges.
(a) Services. The services normally supplied by hotels of this type
during 1941 should continue.
(b) Extra Charges. A schedule of permitted charges for the use of electrical appliances has been prepared and is attached, Appendix II. The use of any of these appliances is at the discretion of the Management. We strongly deprecate the use of any cooking ap- pliances in bedrooms.
(c) Children under the age of three years. It is recommended that no charge for accommodation should be made for children of this age provided the Management is not called upon to supply either bed, bedding and/or linen.
(d) Children over three and under ten years of age. It is recom-
mended that half rates for accommodation should be charged.
13. CHINESE OPERATED FOREIGN TYPE HOTELS.
(i) Rates for Accommodation.
Cecil, Good View, Kimberley, Kowloon, Metropole, Union, Star, and Tavern Hotels.
(a) These establishments include a number of old hotels. They cater for both Chinese and non-Chinese guests. We were not impressed by some of the rooms we saw, although these hotels appear to be as well managed as one can expect in old buildings.
(b) Based on facts and figures which have been made available to the Committee and the Committee's knowledge of the operation of these hotels we recommend that the accommodation rates for "resident guests" should be $12 to $20 per day for a double room and $6 for a single room.
We further recommend that 20% of the accommodation in these hotels be reserved for "resident guests”.
(c) Rose Hotel,
We recommend that the accommodation rates for "resident guests” in this hotel should be $10 per day for double rooms and $5 for single rooms.
We further recommend that 20% of the accommodation in this hotel be reserved for "resident guests”.
(d) Waldorf Hotel.
We recommend that the accommodation rates for “resident guests" in this hotel should be $14 to $22 per day for double rooms and $7 for single rooms.
We further recommend that 20% of the accommodation in this hotel be reserved for "resident guests".
