HONGKONG.

NEW SAIYINGPUN SCHOOL,

CONTRACT No. 49 of 1923. CONTRACTORS: MESSRS. KIN LEE & Co.

2nd Quarterly Report ending 31st December, 1924.

Laid before the Legislative Council by Command of His Excellency the Governor on the 26th February, 1925.

Progress on this building during the past three months has been very good and about half of the carcase of the building is now constructed. If the present rate of pro- gress is maintained throughout the work the School should be completed well within the Contract time which expires in April, 1926.

The level which the work has reached at the present time is as follows:-

Northern Half (comprising Swimming Pool, Changing Rooms, Gymnasium, Covered Playground, etc.). At a level of about 22 feet above the Play- ground.

Southern Half (comprising mainly Class Rooms, Cloak Rooms etc.) At a level

of about 28 feet above the Playground.

The whole of the wood casing to receive the reinforced concrete floor above the Gymnasium is completed and that above the Covered Playground is well in hand.

The reinforced concrete floor to the whole of the Southern half is completed and the brickwork has reached a level of about 6 feet above it.

The whole of the remainder of the Steelwork on indent from Home required for the completion of the building has now arrived and is on the site and there is no reason for delay in the completion of the building that can be foreseen.

The quality of the work so far executed is good.

9th January, 1925,

HAROLD T. CREASY,

Director of Public Works.
