(3.)-Turret Clock for Kowloon Railway Station (C.S.O. 1111/1915).

The Chairman laid before the Committee an indent which had been submitted by the Manager of the Railway for a turret clock for the new Terminal Station at Kowloon Point. The clock was estimated to cost, exclusive of freight, insurance, etc., and without chimes, £499. 1s. 4d. If Westminster chimes were added, the additional cost would be about £210, bringing the total cost up to £709. 18. 4d.

The Chairman read a minute by His Excellency the Governor suggesting that, as the Railway was still far from being a paying concern and as the clock would have to be paid for out of borrowed money, the matter should be deferred for, the present.

The Committee endorsed His Excellency's suggestion that the question of providing a clock should be deferred meanwhile.

The Committee then adjourned.

W. CHATHAM,

Laid before the Legislative Council this 11th day of March, 1915.
