44. During 1956 a series of inter-club competitions in story- elling, singing, dancing, music and drama were held in co- operation with the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association and over 50 clubs participated. A prizewinners' Concert was held in January 1957 when Lady Grantham very kindly distributed the prizes.
45. Other inter-club activities included competitions in football, basket ball, swimming, table tennis, sports and Chinese Chess, all of which are keenly contested.
46. Scouting and Guiding as a club activity continued to expand. There are now 6 scout troops, 3 club packs, 3 guide companies and 2 brownie packs. One of the Brownie Packs, the 4th Hong Kong Pack, emerged as winner at the Annual "Brownie Revels" Competition.
47. A very successful combined week-end Camp for scouts attached to club troops was held in September. This was a real opportunity for the children to put into practice what they had learnt of scoutcraft at their ordinary meetings. For their Christmas "good-turn" the Guides and Brownies undertook to entertain handicapped children and contributed their hard earned savings towards the cost of presents and refreshments.
48. Throughout the year and especially at Christmas club children and many "Street" children were entertained most royally by different groups and individuals. Club children were also encouraged to render services to those less fortunate than themselves. They acted as hosts and hostesses to blind children and to village children at Silvermine Bay and entertained children in hospitals.
49. The Children's libraries provided by the Hong Kong Junior Chamber of Commerce in various centres in the city as well as in the outlying districts continued to serve as valuable and practical alternatives to the many "street" libraries which children and young persons frequent.
50. The libraries of books and gramophone records of the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association and the Youth Welfare Section of the Social Welfare Office continued to be a boon not only to the club children but also to children sponsored by other organizations.
