The Electronic Health Record Sharing System begins operation. It allows public and private healthcare organisations to share health records with patients' consent. The Fire and Ambulance Services Academy at Pak Shing Kok, Tseung Kwan O, opens. It provides a wide range of advanced simulation training facilities and 526 residential training places for the Fire Services Department.

HK Express becomes the territory's first airline to ban the carriage of shark's fin. Cathay Pacific announces its own ban on 22 June, covering its subsidiary, Cathay Dragon, as well.
