academic year. Figures do not include students attending adult education/tutorial/vocational courses.
(2) Figures from 2005/2006 onwards include pupils attending kindergarten classes (i.e. nursery, lower and upper classes) in kindergarten-cum-child care centres upon harmonisation of pre-primary services in September 2005. Figures from 2008/2009 onwards also include special child care centres registered under the Social Welfare Department. Accordingly, they are not directly comparable to figures for earlier years.
