Notes: Figures refer to the third quarter of the year. Figures in brackets refer to percentage changes over the
same period of the preceding year.
(1) As from the first quarter of 2004, the business receipts indices have been updated. The new series
has year 2000 as the base year.
(2) A service domain differs from a service industry in that it comprises those economic activities straddling different industries but are somehow related to a common purpose. Tourism is a good example. It includes all activities of all hotels and travel agents; and some (those involving visitors as customers) but not all of the activities of restaurants, retailers and transport operators.
(3) Part of the data are obtained from the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
(4) Figures for 2003 have been revised to incorporate the revised data on destination consumption
expenditure of incoming visitors and travellers released by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
